Loungewear isn’t going anywhere just yet – and our edit will have you looking chic for the remainder of lockdown and beyond

by Malcolm Musgrove

There is some light at the end of the (lockdown) tunnel – from being able to meet with friends outdoors from March 29 and outdoor dining opening on April 12 (hallelujah!), over the next few months we’ll slowly emerge from our hibernation. But these changes will be gradual and even when the outside world does start to re-open, it’s likely that the way we live and work will have changed for good.

So as much as we’re starting to eye up new season denim and exciting Spring high street finds for post lockdown socialising, loungewear is still high up on our wishlists – and a good investment you’ll still wear for months to come. And besides that, stylish loungewear look is now socially acceptable beyond your homes four walls (just check your Instagram if you don’t believe us). Oh and did we mention, the comfort factor? We’re not sure how we made it this far in our lives without such a large portion of our wardrobes being committed to loungewear. It’s the perfect middle ground between working in your pyjamas (kind of demotivating) and pulling on a pair of jeans (totally unnecessary right now), loungewear is the kind of clothing that you’ll genuinely look forward to wearing, but that is also video-call appropriate.

So we’ve curated the ultimate edit of the best loungewear to shop right now – including luxury loungewear, ASOS loungewear, Arket loungewear and everything in between. There’s a sage green loungewear co-ord from ASOS with a funnel neck and cuffed joggers which we can’t get enough of, plus a boxy cardigan from & Other Stories. Not only will you look effortlessly cool on your next Zoom call but no one know that you’ve paired it with yoga pants and The White Company’s cashmere bed socks.

Free People’s loungewear offering is seriously chic and a good middle ground between luxury and high street. The sloucjy top and tapered joggers of this set are effortlessly cool and this tie-dye sweatshirt is waiting in our bag at checkout.
Les Girls Les Boys new colourways in their trendy track pants and sweatshirts are loungewear *goals* – we just don’t know how we’ll choose between the softest shade of baby blue and this Spring-perfect neutral tone. We might just have to take both.
